Shannon, a small-town girl from Columbus, Georgia, accepted an invitation to spend a warm spring day on a boat at Lake Lanier. Nathan, a fairly recent Marietta, Georgia, resident, accepted the very same invitation. Little did they know, that spring day would mark the beginning of a wild journey—one that would eventually lead them to getting married in Nashville, Tennessee.

That day on the boat, they happened to find out that they were both running the Nashville Half Marathon the following weekend. As fate would have it, they ran into each other in Nashville at Miranda's rooftop, where they introduced each other to their friends. After a brief introduction and a few witty jokes, Nathan split off with his friends to grab something to eat. Shannon stuck around with her friends, but soon received a text from Nathan asking if she wanted anything from the food court.

She replied, “If there is a donut, I would love that!”

So, as any sane man would do, Nathan went to the nearest donut shop and brought Shannon a donut on Broadway.
